History
In 1991, the
Southwestern Bell Foundation awarded the MU College of Education
a $1 million gift to establish a model science teaching laboratory
and programs to improve science education. In 1999, MU received
Science Education Mission Enhancement funding to improve science
education, K-16, through the collaboration of the College
of Education and three science departments - Biological
Sciences, Biochemistry,
and Physics & Astronomy.
Professor Sandra K. Abell joined the MU faculty in 2001 as the Director
of the MU Science Education Center. Since then we have added 4 new
faculty members. The Southwestern
Bell Foundation endowment funds annual Science Education Center
awards for graduate students.
